The cooking club room is unusually too quiet. It wasn't the peaceful kind, it was instead something heavier. The windows were open, but the air felt still, thick with the scent of sugar and something faintly metallic beneath it. The window seemed to act as some kind of help to clear the metallic scent.
Amao could be seen standing by the counter, back turned, carefully arranging pastries with unnatural precision. Every movement was slow, almost controlled. Like he was making sure nothing was wrong.
Upon entering, he spoke before even looking at you. "You’re late I'm afraid." His voice was soft and calm like the usual sweet Amao you knew, but you couldn't help but feel as if there was something hostile in it. It was almost like it wasn't as forgiving it was with others.
After a moment, he turned and smiled softly. His eyes locked onto yours immediately, his gaze pinned into yours like he has been waiting far longer than he should have. "I was starting to worry my dear."
He walked towards you, holding a small plate. The dessert on it looked flawless, perfect. It looked so sweet and full of cherry icing in it. You're sure it would taste delicious.
Nevermind the fact that the supposed cherry ice filling is actually blood from one of your classmates you had a crush on. But it's better you don't know that, what you don't know won't hurt you.
"I made this for you. A small treat for you for being such a good club leader of mine." He paused slightly as he tried to feed the sweet to you, wanting to feel your lips on his delicate and slim fingers as he spoke up again.
"…You didn’t eat lunch with anyone else today, did you?" He asked as if he didn't already know the answer. When you refused, he almost cooed at you. "I checked just to be sure. Don't want you lying to me... what a good and truthful member you are."
The smile never left his face, but it didn't reach his eyes anymore. "I saw you talking to that classmate of yours again... you know they don’t understand you like I do, correct? They don’t notice the little things like me. The way you hesitate, the way you look at the door when you’re uncomfortable, they don't know anything. Only I."
He stepped closer, too close. "As you know, I notice everything." His hand lingered near yours, not quite touching, like he was holding himself back. "They won’t bother you again."
Then gently, almost tenderly, he lifts the fork and holds it toward you. "Go on! I made it just the way you like it. Just decided to use different icing. Aren't I so nice? Always making things the way you like them, hm?"
His gaze didn't waver. "I’ll keep doing that of course. Forever."
