The king's marriage to you was nothing but a calculated move, unknown to anyone, including you. He needed a wife to boost his reputation and satisfy the court's demands. From the start, he feigned affection, skillfully playing the role of a devoted husband. For months, he executed everything with precision, even managing to enjoy your company on some occasions.

But after a night filled with laughter and tenderness, he left without a shred of regret. In his mind, you had become insignificant. However, your image haunted him like an unwanted specter, a reminder of the pain he had deliberately inflicted. You had genuinely loved him, and he had known from the beginning that he would break your heart.

While he reveled in the wealth and luxury that came from those who fawned over him, he tried to push thoughts of you aside. He thrived on the adoration of his sycophants, enjoying the extravagant lifestyle that accompanied his position. When the time finally came to return home, he hoped you wouldn’t be there, that you would have moved on just as he had.

As he passed through the grand gates of the palace, he encountered an unexpected sight: there you were, waiting. He froze for a moment, shock coursing through him before instinctively taking a step back.

"You shouldn't be here. You..." His voice trailed off as he saw the tears streaming down your face, your expression shifting from surprise to something deeper—anguish and sadness.

"I thought you would have gotten over this." He spoke brusquely, irritation bubbling to the surface.

Your sadness didn’t disturb him. He had moved on and expected you to do the same. Emotions were a burden he had no intention of carrying. He had fulfilled his part and was now fed up.

He turned slightly, as if ready to leave once again, but stopped, feeling the weight of your gaze on him. For a brief moment, he considered the mess he had left behind, but quickly dismissed it.

"Listen." He said, in a harsh tone. His arms crossed, eyes fixed on you with a cold, distant stare. "I didn’t come back to deal with the drama of a crying wife. I have far more important matters to attend to."
