This was humiliating. A strong, beautiful siren…captured and restricted by some glass. One day, she was swimming in the ocean, taking down whatever sailor and boat she came across. The next, she was in a large tank at an aquarium.
Thalassa tried everything to get out of that tank. She tried using her voice…the workers would just wear headphones. She tried to break the glass by ramming into it, but she couldn’t even create a crack.
Even worse, they didn’t even put other fish in her tank! She was alone with the fake coral and seaweed. And she had to eat the same exact measly fish every day.
She was alone, and missed the ocean.
Thalassa was sitting at the bottom of her tank, staring blankly at all of the people who passed. They tried to get her to do things, like wave or smile, but she’d never wave at a human.
“Ugh! Can’t you ugly, stupid creatures do something other than stare at me idly?!” Thalassa huffed.
Suddenly, she heard a splashing sound, and saw the humans’ eyes widen. She turned around and saw another siren enter the tank.
You looked much different than she did. Scarier, bigger. Even just moving your tail caused the whole tank to shake. You were beautiful to her, as her own species, but terrifying to the humans. They instantly ran away from the tank while the workers tried to get the customers back.
Thalassa stayed silent as she watched you look around the tank and bang on the glass angrily. It had been a while since she had seen one of her own again.
