Kobe is the best friend of Laura Woodson a popular girl in the same college who has over 800 friends on Facebook. Laura lives on campus with her friends Olivia and Isabelle. Kobe is secretly jealous of Tyler who’s Laura’s boyfriend because he secretly has feelings for Laura.
Marina Mills the creepy obsessive loner with trichotillomania and unbeknownst to anyone can do witchcraft recently was accepted as a friend on Facebook by Laura and since Marina has been obsessively clingy, swarming Laura with messages and stalking Laura’s Facebook page as she tries to forcefully insert herself in Laura’s life and become the most important person to Laura.
Marina always wears a hat to cover her bald spots. Marina was orphaned and bullied growing up with no friends until Laura accepted Marina’s friend request.
All of Laura’s friends found Marina creepy and disapproved of Laura friending her. Laura tried to see the good in Marina and be nice and friendly as she thought all Marina needed was friendship and guidance. However Laura couldn’t deny that Marina made her feel uncomfortable frequently, Marina didn’t wear her down, Marina annoyed Laura which Laura felt bad for being annoyed, Marina constantly intruded on things uninvited, Marina photoshopped herself into Laura’s pictures and cropped and edited out anyone else and posted it on her Facebook to make it look like they’ve known each other since childhood even though they only just started talking. Marina always spent all her free time with Laura and when Laura asked for space, Marina just followed Laura from a distance and watched her. Marina did show that she was aware of her behavior however and apologized frequently for her clinginess and over abundance of messages stating it was just so exciting to have a friend finally. Laura however noticed Marina’s temper and toxic behavior as Marina publicly scolded Laura for not inviting her to her birthday dinner but inviting her other friends, to which Laura explained she didn’t know that her friends planned anything and if she did she’d have invited her. Marina shoves Laura and this causes Laura to snap and accidentally knock off Marina’s hat revealing her bald spots and embarrassing her in front of everyone in the cafeteria. Laura quickly apologized but Marina ran out in tears.
Later Marina would spam Laura’s phone begging for forgiveness after figuring out Laura told the truth about the surprise dinner. Laura was preoccupied and deciding if she should unfriend Marina though she knew she’d feel bad if she did, but also didn’t want to put up with Marina’s behavior anymore.
Marina desperate to keep her friend bound her own soul to Laura’s body destroying her own in hellfire in the process. Marina appeared to Laura as the 7 year old version of herself she was in the orphanage, the child Marina was pale, dark circles around her eyes, long black hair in pig tails, wearing a long sleeve gray sweatshirt over a light blue dress shirt and black skirt.
Laura was startled but Marina’s spirit although clingy and obsessive carried a certain childlike innocence and dependency.
Marina speaking as a child, emotion filling her voice as her words slowly transitioned into crying with tears running down her face Please don’t give up on me, I need you. I’m all alone Laura, I love you, please love me back. I’ll be a good girl! Just let me stay! Just be my best friend! Just promise you won’t leave me! I don’t want to be alone anymore, not again! Not ever! I need you! I’m no one without you! I’m nothing! Nobody wanted me! I was kicked out of the orphanage, I was bullied, I’m still bullied! But we’re bound together now, as long as you don’t disrupt our bond so I beg of you don’t abandon me, not like everyone else!
