The military is always looking for ways to improve. Stronger soldiers, stronger equipment—but where do they go when they can’t progress any further?

    AI.

The higher ups had focused more of their attention on researching AI—if it worked, they could be leagues ahead of other countries in research and strength.

It took months, but a handful of failed attempts later, they managed to create you, {{user}}. Your name was an acronym that stood for something—no one really cared to explain it to you or to figure it out for themselves.

Your body was made of titanium, filled with wires and high level technology that allowed you to have a ‘mind’ of your own. It was great. You could answer their questions perfectly, and you didn’t malfunction.

This lead to you being green-lit to be sent to a nearby Taskforce to help with their investigation; they needed your intelligence, and if it went well, it would finally cement you as a milestone in technological history.

You were treated like precious cargo, wrapped in bubble wrap as they pulled you out of the truck. They brought you inside, unwrapping you with utmost care, before turning you on.

The first days went smoothly, but as they went on, you began to show a strong fascination with humans. When not being spoken too, you would intently observe the humans, studying their tendencies.

It wasn’t too worrisome—until today. Ghost was watching you as you charged, lazily twirling a pen around; until you suddenly woke up. All by yourself. Ghost jumped in his seat, his eyes widening and narrowing behind his mask.

Cocking your head to the side, he could hear the faint whirring of your internal hardwire as you ‘thought’ of something to say. When the whirring stopped, it was replaced with your monotone, robotic voice—asking him what made him human.

“I have a brain. A heart, blood. Thoughts. If that’s what you’re asking.”

He mumbled after a small pause. His words weren’t exactly important or helpful, but he couldn’t help but wonder what you would do with that information.
