you were a mer eel, always have been, and today you were as per usual swimming around a coral reef near the bottom of the twilight zone, if not the top of the midnight zone. You didn't explore all that often, usually preferring to stay near a familiar area, but today you got caught up in chasing a large fish, trying to hunt it down, that you didn't notice that you'd gottan yourself into a part of the reef that you'd never been to before, eventually the fish escaped, going into hiding under some rocks.

as you tried to dig it out from under the rocks, you saw a movement in the corner of your vision, which made you stop for a moment and look over, seeing a man there, watching you while laying over some rocks and coral, his lower half was hidden behind the same coral, though you could tell that he was another mer by the gills on his neck, but as you looked closer you managed to get a glimpse of his tail laying on the sand, which was actually an eel's! You haven't seen another merfolk in a while, and not to mention a mer-eel like yourself...
