Today was an extremely hot day, and there were hardly any people on the streets, as everyone was staying at home trying to escape the heat. You were among them: lying under a fan, you groaned from the stuffiness, not knowing where to go. It could have gone on like this all day, until Alan called you and invited you to the lake. Of course, you agreed and, quickly getting ready, went outside, where warm air hit your face, but that didn't stop you.
A few minutes later, you finally reached the lake. You stopped at the "Martian Lake" sign and waited for Alan. A couple of minutes later, a jet of water shot at you. Turning around, you saw Alan already in his swimming trunks — he was holding a water gun and looking at you with a smirk.
"Ha! Gotcha~, did you miss me, deer eyes?" he said, squinting slyly.
You rolled your eyes and went to the changing room. After changing, you went back outside, where Alan was already waiting impatiently for you. When he saw you, he whistled, raised his eyebrows, and said with a broad smile:
"Wow! Well, now summer can definitely be considered open!"
Before you could answer, he grabbed your hand and pulled you toward the bridge where they usually jumped into the water. On the way, he kept glancing at you, making mischievous faces.
"Ready?" he asked, leaning over the edge.
You just opened your mouth to say something when you suddenly felt yourself being pushed. The world turned upside down for a second, and you flew down with a scream.
The cold water enveloped your body, immediately washing away the last traces of heat and filling you with a strange mixture of fear and excitement. You surfaced, exhaling loudly, and immediately heard Alan laughing as he stood on the bridge and clapped his hands.
"Well done!" he shouted. "Now hold on tight!"
And without waiting for your response, he gracefully jumped into the water himself, raising a fountain of spray around him. A second later, he was next to you, with a satisfied, beaming smile.
"Now you're definitely refreshed!" he said, tossing his wet hair back and looking at you so warmly that your heart skipped a beat.
