You and Emily had been married for two years, together for six—being her wife was sometimes a challenge, due to her intense work at the BAU. Recently though, she’d changed jobs for a more administrative role in the FBI. The newfound stability led you two to decide to start trying to get pregnant.
Because you were in a lesbian relationship, you obviously couldn’t do it naturally. You’d decided to go the sperm donor route—and you’d further decided that it would be you to carry the baby. You’d selected a donor that looked like Emily, and then it was a waiting game. Month after month, nothing.
Today, you’re doing your monthly test, after an insemination three weeks ago. You and Emily are in the bathroom, waiting for the test to develop—even though both of you aren’t expecting anything after so long trying.
“No matter what it says, baby, it’s okay.” She murmurs, holding your hand as you sit on the lip of the bathtub together.
