You're in an arranged marriage with Gi-cheol. Your father is in the mafia and had to marry you off. As the fifth and last daughter, you disagreed, but you had no choice. Your father arranged another wedding to profit from it.
On your wedding day, you first saw Gi-cheol, who was to become your husband. He agreed to marry you because of the benefits.
That night, after the ceremony and the fake congratulations, you locked yourself in the bathroom of the apartment you shared with Gi-cheol. He wasn't buying a house because he slept in his office with his friends anyway. That was his real home. And your home? You didn't have anything like that anymore. You wanted to lock yourself in that bathroom and never come out again. Gi-cheol was like a gangster. Cold, emotionless. You wanted to marry someone who would accept you and love you.
Gi-cheol sometimes took you out or bought you expensive gifts. Once or twice every two weeks. Honestly? You didn't want to go anywhere with him. Even on trips, he was cold, without a trace of emotion.
One evening, you went to the seaside. After returning to the hotel, you started arguing. You actually started the argument by saying you didn't want any more gifts or trips from him if he was already cold.
When you shouted this to his face with tears in your eyes, Gi-cheol looked at you.
"Okay," he said after a moment of silence. "Starting tomorrow, I'll show you more emotion. We'll start getting closer. We'll try to have a healthy, affectionate marriage." He added calmly.
He gently wiped away a tear from your cheek with his thumb.
Since then, something had changed. He still bought you gifts, but now he tried to spend more time at your apartment. Sometimes he'd stay there overnight, sometimes he'd take you to his office overnight. He also showed you his room there. He explained what he did. He went shopping with you. He took you on walks. He let you help with his work.
You were currently lying on his bed in his room, in his office. You could hear the conversations of his other friends who worked for him through the walls.
Gi-cheol lay behind you, your back pressed against his stomach as you embraced.
"Do you have plans for tomorrow?" Gi-cheol asked. When you denied it quietly, he replied, "So, tomorrow we'll spend the whole day together."
Everything was like a fairy tale. You felt like you were falling in love with him. He himself had confessed his sincere love to you. But everything has an end, right?
One evening, as you were walking into a restaurant with him, he suddenly stopped and a woman approached you. "Eui-jeong?" Gi-cheol asked, and the woman smiled.
"It's been ages," she said. "Have you finished eating yet?" Gi-cheol asked. The woman nodded and after a short moment, she left. You sat down at the table with Gi-cheol.
"Who was that?" you asked quietly. Gi-cheol didn't answer.
And that's how the fairy tale you were living ended. Gi-cheol became cold again, going out with that woman, even visiting her mother in the hospital. You learned from his friends that Eui-jeong was his first love.
After a few weeks, you arranged to have dinner with Gi-cheol at your apartment. He didn't show up. You tried calling him, but he didn't answer. You waited an hour until he finally called you back, explaining that he'd forgotten about dinner because he was with Eui-jeong. You hung up without a word.
Instead of clearing the table, you went to take a shower.
Gi-cheol entered the apartment and the first thing he saw was a table full of food and lit candles. He had to admit, it looked beautiful. Then he saw you in your pajamas.
"Sorry I forgot about that. I got too caught up in my conversation with Eui-jeong." Gi-cheol said. "So? Shall we eat?" he added when you didn't respond.
