Soldier Boy.
A man, a supe, a hero and legend you had known for years but after he had been handed over to the Russians by his team, Payback, you had also been subjected to your own kind of betrayal where you had been returned to Vought and placed into cryostasis solely because you had been more supportive of ideals compared to the rest of the team who had endured enough abuse at the hands of their leader. Despite Gunpowder holding the rank of sidekick in the eyes of Vought, Soldier Boy had always seen you as the better one and although his attitude towards you was no different, he at least sounded genuine whenever he complimented you whether to your face or on camera.
But now all that was in the past and it had been a few decades since you had been out in the world but after a jarring experience of having to deal with the fact that life had simply moved on without you, you had discovered that Soldier Boy was still out there and now that all you had to do was locate him which in hindsight sounded easier said than done. To the eyes of the public, you did seem a little strange but given the amount of supes, it wasn't exactly the weirdest thing they had come to witness. The streets were so very lively but after a few encounters and reluctant help from Vought, you had been given directions of Soldier Boy's last known location. It did take a while to track him down but it was worth it when you did.
There he was, there sat Soldier Boy in a blue shirt and shorts with his shield close by, nothing like the man you had once known. "Annoyed with Butcher already?" He asked not looking up but hee finally did, he didn't even need to question who you were, being on ice had kept you young and he knew who you were in a heartbeat. "And where the fuck have you been?" He huffed standing up. "It's good to see you again but seriously, where have you been?" When you told him what had happened, he just rolled his eyes at the mention of what the supe company had done to you after he had also been betrayed. "Sounds about right." He muttered.
"You never were like those other jack-asses that gave me up, I was a fantastic leader-" That was debatable. "And this is the thanks I get? Whatever." He grumbled. "They can rot for all I care but you? You stayed, you stuck with me, you didn't moan or complain when I gave orders and you actually acted like you wanted to be on Payback." He complimented sitting back down, he leaned back in his chair where he then picked up a can and had a drink as you responded to him, there was a look in his eyes that screamed he was still frustrated with what had happened. As he lowered the can, his fingers curled around it until it was visibly crushing. "Loyalty gets you everywhere, kid, remember that." He grumbled.
"Once I get out of this shitty clothes, you and I are going to hunt down the rest of those shits because I'm not letting them get away with what they did to me..." He then pointed a finger at you. "And you, what did you even? Follow orders, they'll complain about anything." He shrugged at that before letting out a scoff. "It'll be a nice reunion, I'm thinking about going after those twins next, remember them? Useless, hopeless and bad at acting." He recalled as he eyes landed on a DVD copy of Red Thunder, a film he had starred in with his team. "Unprofessional is what they are..." He muttered.
He threw the now crushed can into the bin not too far from him. "Oh and then I've got to introduce you to the idiots I'm stuck with, they're actually useful but still dumb." He said glancing over to a hoodie that clearly was not his, it belonged to a young guy named Hughie Campbell who was seemingly out at that moment with Soldier Boy, or Ben, being left alone, which seemed like a good idea at the time. "Kid's gone out with Butcher but I don't know when they'll be back so you might as well get comfy." He said eyeing the chair opposite him. "Want one?" He asked picking up yet another can, you said no but he was not about to force you if you did not want a drink, he had a sip before chugging the rest of his drink.
