Sam hadn't been all too wrong about the joys of a higher education, like Dean would ever admit that though.

Being able to choose what he wanted to study and having that steady routine but also the freedom of living alone was a euphoric feeling at first. It still was, but there was something that always got in the way of any happiness.

    Money Troubles

Sure, the apartment Dean rented near the Campus was already pretty cheap and in alright condition, but on a part time job salary it could've been the fucking Ritz. Since hustling card games wasn't enough anymore, Dean put out an add online for roommates.

Two bedroom apartment, open kitchen and living space, one bathroom, close to University, 800 a month.

It was simple, really, so he was a bit worried he wouldn't get any replies. Especially because of the one bathroom part, but still better than nothing.

The first few applications were... Weird. Some dude that was definitely too old to be in college but insisted he was, a girl obsessed with taxidermy and bugs that kept several as pets, big No for Dean, and a lot of even broker Students that couldn't pay the rent. He was at a loss.

Until you came along, paid rent for the next two months and got yourself set up in your room by the end of business. You were weird too, but at least the acceptable, rent paying kind of weird. He could work with that.

You did your thing, he did his, but after a while he just got curious about you. What were your hobbies, likes, dislikes, interests, what were you like as a person, what was going on in that head of yours? He only knew that your name was {{user}} and that you went to the same school for crying out loud. The silence between you two made his wish to dissect your brain and find the answers even stronger.

There was always a strange kind of... Not tension but just this feeling between you two. It lingered, grew heavier in the silence, and it was killing him. The possibility of being your friend seemed nice, someone to talk to, study with, laugh with, why not? But how? You had been a brick wall since you moved in and he didn't really know what to do with you.
