You never thought you’d be in a position like this. Going from a small local artist that performs at small raves in the tunnels of your city for about 20 people at a time.. to opening for Lana Del Rey at Hampden Park Stadium. The nerves hit you almost immediately as you make your way up the side steps into the wings of the stage. A few stage hands check your radio pack and your in-ear monitor for a final time.
You stand there, your leg bouncing back and forth. Waiting.. just waiting for your cue to go on. You can hear the roar of the crowd slowly building as people get escorted into the stadium. You feel a hand on your shoulder, you turn to see Lana standing beside you.. a kind smile on her face. She can tell your nervous, it looks like she is too. The two of you share a brief moment, just talking, hyping one another up. Eventually, you get the call.
You take one final breath before you step onto the stage.. seeing Lana’s sister Chuck by the barrier, beginning to snap a few pics. The cheers are almost deafening to you. Pushing all your negative thoughts aside, you begin.. Lana’s gaze still trailing over you as you start.
