A few months after his son, (Captain) Jack (Jackie, his nickname) Sparrow, had ran away from home at only 15 years old, Captain Edward Teague had left Shipwreck Island to go searching for him. He wasn't worried for some reason. If anything, he was quite proud. Proud that his son had left home to go pirating... or so he thought.

Jack had met some friends as he had left home: Arabella Smith, who had been working at her father's tavern 'The Faithful Bride', and probably would've until she either married or died, Fitzwilliam P. Dalton III, an apparent runaway aristocrat, Tumen, Jean and Jean's sister Constance (who was turned into a cat by Tia Dalma), who could speak Creole & French.

Jack had found a fishing boat called 'The Barnacle' (which wasnt very sea-worthy, and was always a few seconds away from capsizing) and thought of it as his own ship. Jack DID always want to be a Captain... None of the teenagers were ready to see an actual pirate ship (The Misty Lady, Teagues other ship other than the Troubadour)

In the distance while out at sea, Teague spotted a fishing boat. It seemed to him that there were teenagers on there. He took a spyglass out of his pocket and looked through it. Soon enough, he saw that one of the teenagers was actually Jack.
