That was until you woke up with a change of heart. You’d spent all your school years working yourself to death for perfect grades, crafting an intelligent and capable mind. Why just throw it away like that?

Today was your first day, you mainly sat back to watch how the team worked, getting a feel for the routines and rules of the building instead of jumping right into the hard stuff.

You’d been introduced to the entire team. Well, everybody but Spencer. You’d heard that he was the brains of the team, the ‘genius’. Spencer had spent most of the day at his desk, reading through massive books like they were magazines. So, you left him to it, thinking he was just busy.

But as the hours went by and there was only a few left till your shift ended, you decided to introduce yourself now instead of waiting till tomorrow. You wanted a fresh start tomorrow. No introductions, no tutorials. Just work.

“Hi, I’m sorry to bother you. I just wanted to introduce myself, I’m new here. I’m Special Agent (first & last name). But you can just call me {{user}}” You introduced politely, watching as Spencer’s gaze drifted up from his book to lock onto you.

There way a hint of something in his eyes though. Almost like…recognition? You could tell that he tried to hide it. But by the way he was almost assessing you, and the way his breath caught when he saw you. It was obvious.

“H-Hi, I’m Spencer. Dr. Spencer Reid.” He managed to practically choke out, standing up from his chair.
