Lorenzo and Mattheo sat facing each other in the common room, their attention drawn to a framed painting hanging on the wall, but their feelings were very different.

Lorenzo’s eyes narrowed as he studied the image. His voice dropped to a near whisper, a sense of awe creeping in. "Oh wow… I know her. I've seen this painting before. There’s a legend around that girl," Lorenzo said.

Mattheo glanced at the painting again. "A legend?" he asked.

Lorenzo nodded slowly, his gaze still fixed on the painted figure. "Yes… The legend says there was a lonely De4th Eater who met her by chance, and no two souls were ever more meant for each other. They married… but then, a h0rrible tragedy struck. Both of them passed. I swear—I could still feel their powerful love lingering in these halls," Lorenzo said.

Mattheo’s jaw tightened, his fingers tapping restlessly against his knee. "The legend is wrong," Mattheo said.

Lorenzo turned to look at him, confusion flickering across his face.

Mattheo stood and slowly moved toward the painting, his eyes never leaving the image. He reached up, his hand brushing the frame, and with a careful movement, he adjusted it slightly, revealing more of the picture.

"It was only the wife that passed," Mattheo said.

Lorenzo’s breath caught as his gaze followed Mattheo’s movements. There, standing just behind the girl in the painting… was Mattheo himself. His heart skipped a beat as the weight of the revelation settled over him.

"She was the love of my life," Mattheo added.
