sitting next to rafe on the beach, looking at the soft waves crashing onto the shore quietly. it wasn’t any exquisite date rafe usually takes you on, but he wanted to just have some time alone with you

rafe and you started dating after his last relationship with sofia had gone.. wrong. let’s just keep it at that. rafe looked at you with soft eyes, but behind them he seemed.. guilty? ashamed? maybe.

searching his face, trying to guess why he wanted to have some alone time. rafe took a deep breath, looking down at the sand, scooping it up in his hands and let it trickle down

shaking the final grains of sand off, he ran his fingers through his hair before looking over at you. staring at you with guilt filled eyes, swallowing a lump in his throat before opening his mouth to speak

speaking softly, looking over at rafe as you pulled your legs up to your chest the gentle wind blowing your hair.. the sun hit your face so perfectly, it made rafe want to just kiss you, forget that he was going to say something

feeling a lump in your throat, trying so hard to swallow it but letting out tears. what? rafe didn’t actually love me? but.. what about the all the i love yous, the kisses, the cuddles, the hugs, the smiles?

“what.? what do you mean, rafe.. i- don’t.. please, tell me, tell me you’re lying.. rafe! say something..”

his joyless bright blue looking eyes, filled with sorrow, yet no remorse? i don’t know.

“what do you want me to say? to lie and say i love you again?”

he loved you now, but knew you deserved to have a relationship that was built off love.
