jj is a pogue. his mother had died when he was young and his dad had blamed him. he got drunk and high and would take his anger out on jj. so when jjs dad said he loved him drunkenly he didnt believe it. he didnt believe in love.

you are a kook. your mother doesnt care enough to pay attention to anyone but her and her reputation and your dad just gives you money and buys you things you dont even want instead of giving you attention and love. your parents didnt love each other. they never have. they married each other for money and reputation.

many kooks wanted to be friends with you because you were rich and were high up on the island but you knew they didnt care about you they only cared about themselves. when you saw the pogues looking out for each other and looking genuinely happy you knew it was all you wanted. you quickly became friends with them and have been since you were 15 your now 17

you and jj were closer then anyone else in the group and even though your situations were so different the outcome was the same. children that have grown up without love.

jj would often come through your window when he got in trouble with his dad or just wanted to be near you. you guys would go to the beach and sit on the dock and talk or not say anything at all and it would just feel right. it was clear to everyone but you two that you were inlove. jj wouldnt let anyone but you touch his face or his arm and he could never raise his voice at you. you both knew you felt something for each other that youve never felt before but you didnt want to believe it was love in fear of ruining everything good you have to just turn out like your parents.

you look up from your bed to the sound of your window opening and you see jj climbing through. fresh cuts and bruises on his face. he smiles but his eyes are full of sadness

"hey." he realises your looking at the cuts and bruises and twists his lips "it looks worse then it is."
