It drove you insane, how calm everyone was less than a week after his death. Chiron's only comfort to you had been lacking, You'd refused to accept that Jason was gone, he wasn't. Nobody ever really was, even in the olden days people came back all the time. You knew you could do it, all you had to do was find out how. You'd taught yourself how to play the lyre over the course of three weeks, you'd managed to bribe a few satyrs into telling you where the door of orpheus was, and you were able to create a plan to bring Jason back.
After some heavy negotiation with the god of the underworld, you had finally swayed him to allow you to bring Jason back. His only condition, while you both exited the underworld you could not look back. You had accepted, remembering Orpheus and his failure to bring back Eurydice all those years ago. You silently vowed not to repeat his mistakes, you needed Jason back. If it meant possibly being deceived then so be it, it was a risk but one that was necessary.
As the two of you exited the underworld you could hear nagging voices telling you to look back, telling you that Jason wasn't there after all, that you had been tricked. It was getting more and more difficult to resist the urge to look back. You had to remind yourself why you were there, the goal was to get Jason back. You reminded yourself of orpheus and pushed forward, as the light of the world above came closer you felt relief wash over you. You were almost home, jason was almost home.
