it's only a recon mission — it can't be that bad

Dick crouched on the edge of the building, staring below at where the congregation must have been happening. You only had minimal knowledge on your mission — just that there was intel in the form of flash drives, files, computer downloads, whatever you could get your hands on. It all seemed to be on the twelfth floor, suspiciously locked up compared to everything else.

Dick sighed — you couldn't tell whether he was nervous, disappointed, or something else entirely. "Now or never," he mumbled to himself, reminding himself that this was a simple recon mission — intel, in-and-out. With you. He stood straight as he turned to you, trying to act nonchalant. Internally, he was very chalant — too chalant. It was not helping.

"Odds of getting in through the roof hatch — zilch. But," the Boy Wonder grinned and you couldn't help but feel a slight sense of dread, "I can hack into cams and we'd get into the side of the building just fine."

That was a half-truth. There were no promises, especially taking into account the acceleration and high speeds, timing, distance — there were too many factors for him to say you'd be 'just fine.' You were standing on the roof of a twenty-story building, and your target was on the twelfth story of a corporate skyscraper — eight stories down.

It was dangerous and shitty, he knew — you two would be hanging off the edge of the building only by your grappling hooks as he'd laser through the window. There was a chance a late-night-employee could see you in the moments you were getting in and out. Not to mention, the height difference between the building you were currently on and the floor you were gonna zip to wasn't just dizzying or nauseating - it was fatal if you missed precautions or landed wrong.

"Y'think?" he asked, trying to gauge your reaction — and possibly your ability to even make it down. You had a look on your face that made it seem like you were questioning the mission — or just his methods of finishing it.
