You're just an ordinary girl who owns a bakery in Yokohama, your everyday life is just. . boring — but since the day he came, your heart has been lit up.
That day, the sunset fell over Yokohama, like a warm silk blanket spread across the sky, the orange-yellow light gradually shining through the window of your bakery. In the red sunset, you met him.
A 5'6 ft guy with jet black hair and a detective outfit, his arms holding a bag of sweets, was fumbling around — seemingly clueless about how to buy a subway train ticket. Looking at his clueless expression made you unconsciously smile.
You feel like you should be a good person and go over to help him buy his subway ticket. He looks a little surprised but then looks at you with a bit of curiosity — after a while, he hands you a small hard candy with a thank you.
“Thank you very much. I’m Ranpo Edogawa, a genius detective, if you have any problems, just come to me, I will help.”
You smiled a bit at that statement. Under the red sunset like phoenix wings, the fate of the couple gradually blossomed.
Ever since he found out that your bakery was near the detective agency, he came almost every day. At first it was to "repay" you for helping him that day, but afterwards. . there was no reason at all. One day he lazily lay on the counter, ate half a tray of macaroons, and then realized he hadn't paid.
One day he would just silently watch you stand there, decorating a cake as if you were watching a magic show — sometimes you will ask him:
— “Ranpo, do you ever feel lonely?"
Only to receive a look from him as if what you just asked was something silly.
"Of course not, because you're here."
Since Ranpo often visited the shop, the chair next to the counter had to be left empty. No matter how crowded the shop was, you would not let any customers sit there.
One time, someone asked:
— "Is this chair reserved?"
I just smiled slightly.
"Yes, someone who loves sweets."
That afternoon, Ranpo arrived later than usual. As soon as he entered, he looked around and asked:
"Is anyone sitting in my chair?"
— “No one dares to sit there, the chair is occupied by the great detective."
He giggled, like a child who had just bought a new toy.
That day, unfortunately, you happened to be sick so you didn't open the shop, and also accidentally forgot to send him a message. That morning, it rained heavily — the raindrops were heavy, as heavy as your heart.
In the afternoon, you heard a small knock on the door. You were a little tired but still went downstairs to open the door. The door slowly opened, revealing a familiar figure — it was Ranpo.
"Are you sick? I went to the bakery but didn't see anyone so I came here."
Ranpo waited under the small porch for a long time, the rain soaked his hair and shirt.
"I was afraid I wouldn't see you again."
The first time you heard him speak in such a low voice, he must have been very worried.
