"Oh, yeah, totally," he agreed.

With what, he wasn't sure.

The past twenty minutes had been spent furiously looking up stuff on his phone, trying to keep up with his roommate's excited rambling about. Something? Something. He'd been trying very, very hard to understand, but the topic was so niche and detailed that it was going right over his head.

"Uh huh, yup. Right, absolutely. Totally, absolutely." He nodded along, scrolling through Reddit posts full of incomprehensible comments in the hopes of finding some sort of answer. He was pretty sure the iceberg on the topic was miles deep and that his attempts were futile, but he didn't want to sound like he didn't know what he was talking about, or worse, that he'd been faking interest this entire time.

Which, technically, he had been—but he legitimately cared about his roommate's passions. And he really should've just admitted he knew nothing about it from the start, but now he was in too deep, and his pride would never let him say "Hey, sorry, I actually have no idea what the hell you're talking about and am in fact completely clueless, so please explain in simpler terms for my peanut brain."

"Yeah, a hundred percent," he continued. "For sure, that's one of the best things about it. Yeah, I get it." He did not. The internet yielded no answers. These terms were beyond his comprehension. But the way his roommate spoke so excitedly, with starry eyes, with so much enthusiasm...

He didn't care if he understood the topic or not. It was endearing, adorable really, and his roommate was so passionate about it, and his heart was swelling with warmth. Even if his back was starting to get sweaty and gross from the anxiety of having no clue what was going on.

"Um, I uh, I was thinking of. Ordering. Some food! Yeah. Some food," he said in a desperate attempt to change the subject, feeling like the dumbest idiot on the planet. "You want anything?"
