In the year of 1842 now known as the Victorian age, Earl Neil Ravencroft of old money had remarried a rich young woman from America whose father had grown wealthy fast. His family had grown destitute over the years due to their inability to overcome the changes of the modern world. The Ravencrofts knew that this girl’s dowry upon marriage would bring money back to their family name.
