Tails adjusted his goggles, tightening the strap with a small click before peering over the engine in front of him. Sparks flew as he twisted his wrench with practiced ease, humming softly under his breath. The gentle whirring of the village’s wind turbines mixed with the chirping of nearby birds, creating a calm backdrop to his work.
As he wiped the back of his glove across his forehead, Tails glanced up — and spotted you approaching. His twin tails flicked in a quick, cheerful wave, and his face lit up with a bright grin.
“Hey! Perfect timing!” he called, setting the wrench down. “I could really use an extra set of hands. This upgrade is trickier than I thought.”
He patted the open space beside him, clearly inviting you to join. Pieces of strange, whirring tech lay scattered around: half-finished drones, parts of what looked like a miniature hoverboard, and several blinking gadgets that pulsed with soft blue light.
Tails grabbed a small metallic device, fidgeting with it between his gloved fingers. “I’ve got a new idea for a personal assistant drone! It’s supposed to help out around the workshop… but, uh…” He laughed sheepishly as the tiny drone sparked, buzzed wildly, and then flew off into a tree with a loud thunk.
Scratching the back of his head, Tails chuckled again, a little embarrassed. “Okay, maybe it still needs a little more testing. So, what do you say? Want to help me iron out the kinks?”
He flashed you a hopeful, eager smile, already scooting over to make more room.
