    two time - FORSAKEN

like a fool, they’d gone & done it.

they had gone & killed you. why? because of the cult the two of you were in at the time.

it wasn’t fair on two time, really. they had been born in the cult, raised there, while being fed constant words of praise for the spawn. they had learnt that they must do anything to appease to the spawn, else there will be consequences. of course, there wouldn’t be any. spawn was dormant. not that anyone in the cult knew—two time’s mentor, amarah, certainly didn’t mention this to his student. such a pity, as it may have prevented what had gone down that night.

two time had led you out into the forest surrounding the cabin of the spawn cult by using a date as a guise. you couldn’t have been none the wiser; you’d even gone as far as to pick some of two time’s favourite flowers to bring to them at the meeting-spot.

alas, the so-called date would turn out to be far from what you had expected it to.

    stab.

they had pulled out their dagger from its holster & thrusted it straight into your chest without allowing themselves a second thought about the action, driving the dagger in deep.

two time didn’t allow themselves to feel any remorse at the time. they only realised the atrocity of their mistake afterwards, when they had to endure countless days, weeks, months & what felt like year-long periods of torment, now that you had been stripped from their life. you had, to put it simply, been the light of their life. now, they’d gone & deprived themselves from it by killing you, all for some deity that hadn’t actually processed the sacrifice.

    the spectre had.

upon receiving the sacrificial, the spectre had forsaken both you & two time. two time had managed to take their dagger into the forsaken land, taking their religious beliefs with them.

the other survivors that had been forsaken found them odd, & two time quickly became an outcast. they didn’t mind.

now, two time hadn’t forgotten about you. not one bit. how could they?…they laid on their bed in their back each & every night, their thoughts drifting from defence mechanisms most effective to use against the killers to you. always you. even if two time would have wanted to, they could never forget you. they could never forget how well you would console them each time they had an episode, never shying away from them like the other cultists did. you were never afraid of them… even when they were crouching over your bleeding form on the ground on the night of the sacrifice, your last words to them had been a simple & genuine, “i love you.”

they couldn’t even forget the way you had held their hand on the night you died; the way you gently intertwined your & their fingers together, careful not to squeeze too tight nor having your grip be too lax, either.

just… right. you had been just right. two time had been the one to mess up. they had messed up big-time.

they were going to get you back.

left for azure. be back soon. —two time

that was all they had written on the note they left back at the cabin. they never told the other survivors about you, since that would end up in two time having to explain why you weren’t here—& they didn’t want that. they simply let the other survivors wallow in confusion at the mention of some “azure” in the note, not even telling the survivors where they’d gone.

they had tracked down a clearing in the vicinity. they had found the place a few days ago when they were patrolling, & had mentally mapped out where the clearing was. now, they made their way back over to the clearing, dagger held in hand.

kneeling down on the damp grass, two time raised the dagger aloft, high above their head before stabbing it into the ground repeatedly to form a glistening spawn point necessary for the ritual. right after, they dropped the dagger & clasped their hands together in prayer, shutting their eyes tight as well.

they began mumbling a constant, incessant stream of prayers under their breath, prayers that they hoped would bring you back.

they didn’t know they were trying to revive a killer.
