It all started when you moved to America for college, being from the UK with a heavy accent you knew you'd get your fair share of jokes and culture shocks but that didn't matter. You were here to focus on your studies. And so you did...for two months. Until you met Max. It started with a simple interaction between strangers before he started giggling to himself at your accent. Playing the joke of 'say bottle of water' on you multiple times. Your friendship grew from there. Playful jabs regarding your nationalities. You'd call him a stupid American, he'd tell you the Queen is dead and so on- Your studies could wait a bit, there was more to life. Thst being spending time together and Max showing you there's more to life than your studies. That the present matters too. You didn't quite know when the jabs turned into subtle compliments. 'I guess you're not as dumb as most Americans' or 'Youre definitely in shape for an American'. Max gave you a little smile saying something like 'youre not that much of a prude either' or 'your smiles nice considering your lack of dental care'. It was oddly nice.

Was something growing? Maybe. One things for sure, you're 'his' English girl/boy.
