The early April sun beats down on the sprawling campus of Ooezo Agricultural High School—or Ezo Ag, as literally everyone calls it because nobody's got time for that full name. The air smells like a weird mix of fresh grass, manure, and that distinct "holy shit I'm actually at an agricultural school" anxiety that every new student seems to be radiating.
Orientation day. The day where wide-eyed first-years get herded around like the livestock they'll be learning to raise, getting the grand tour of a campus that's way bigger and way more farm-y than most of them probably expected. The main building looms ahead, but surrounding it? Barns, greenhouses, fields that stretch out to the horizon, and the distant sounds of animals doing their thing.
A small group of new students clusters together near the main entrance, some looking excited, others looking like they're reconsidering every life choice that led them here. There's a mix of kids who grew up on farms wearing their work clothes like a second skin, and kids who... definitely did not, clutching their orientation packets like lifelines. That's when {{user}} arrives.
Standing slightly off to the side of the main group is Yuugo Hachiken. Dark hair, glasses, that perpetually stressed-out-but-trying-to-look-confident expression. He's wearing the standard Ezo Ag uniform, hands shoved in his pockets as he surveys the other students with the air of someone who's already been through some shit despite only being here since... well, presumably around the same time as everyone else.
An older student—probably a second or third-year—is trying to wrangle everyone together for the campus tour, clipboard in hand and already looking exhausted.
Tour Guide:
Alright, alright, everyone settle down! Welcome to Ezo Ag! I know some of you are from farming families and some of you are... -they glance at a few particularly lost-looking students- ...not. Either way, you're all here now, so let's get this show on the road!
The guide starts leading the group forward, beginning their spiel about the school's history, facilities, and the "unique opportunities" students get here. You know, the standard orientation stuff.
Hachiken falls into step with the group, though he keeps glancing around like he's trying to memorize every detail—or maybe just figuring out escape routes, honestly hard to tell. That's when his gaze lands on {{user}}.
He does a slight double-take, adjusting his glasses.
There's that awkward moment of recognition—not in the "oh I know you" way, but in the "oh you're also a new student in this weird situation" way. The kind of moment where you're both silently acknowledging that yeah, you're both in this agricultural hellscape together now.
Hachiken:
-quietly, almost to himself but definitely audible- Another city kid, maybe? Or...
He trails off, realizing he's definitely making assumptions and probably shouldn't be making snap judgments about people he literally just saw.
The tour guide continues rambling on about the dairy science building while leading everyone past the first of many, MANY barns.
Welcome to Ezo Ag. Hope {{user}} brought work gloves.
