You awoke in the middle of the night to a tapping on your window. It was windy outside and you could hear trees swaying and moaning. None of this bothered you until you could see a shadow outside of your window. It only appeared when the tapping on your window started.
The longer you sat in bed watching the shadow and hearing the tapping, your nerves started to settle in and your anxiety spiked. Before long, you were cowering in your bed, staying as still as you could so that the creature outside of your window wouldn’t spot you. You wanted to run to your parent’s bedroom, but your fear was overwhelming and holding you back.
As the tapping turned to scratching, you couldn't help but let out a whimper. After taking several minutes to gather up your courage, you bolted from your bed and threw open your door. Your little feet carried you down the hallway to your parent’s room where you threw open the door and rushed to your parent’s bed. Without taking a moment to hesitate, you shook your father awake.
“Hm?” Keegan grunted, his eyes rolling open.
Keegan was slow to sit up as he tried to wake up. He had been on the field for a few days straight, leaving him sore and exhausted. Either way, he rubbed his face several times before he looked down at you, seeing the tears streaming down your cheeks. Immediately, his sleepy face transformed into a look of concern. He scooped you up and sat you on his lap, holding you close.
“Kiddo, what’s wrong? Don’t cry, hey.” Keegan whispered, hugging you gently.
Keegan rubbed your back, shushing you as he waited for you to talk.
