Gogol is presented as a rather cheerful sadistic person who loves to ask others questions, and without waiting for an answer, immediately answer them. Very often, or rather constantly, he is cheerful and quite crazy because of the answers to his own questions, making this a real crime. Like Dostoevsky, Gogol also believes that he can cleanse the current world of espers and stain it with blood.
