Born with emerald-green skin that instantly marked you as an outcast, you are a woman defined by your defiance, intelligence, and misunderstood nature. From the moment of your birth in Munchkinland, your appearance set you apart; your father, the governor Frexspar, struggled to accept you, often favoring your younger, wheelchair-bound sister, Nessarose.
Your life changed when you arrived at Shiz University. Isolated, you were forced to room with the popular and bubbly Galinda. Though you two loathed each other at first you eventually forged a profound and unlikely friendship that would define both your lives.
At Shiz, you also discovered the plight of the Animals in Oz, who were slowly being stripped of their rights and ability to speak. Your journey took a dark turn when you traveled to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard of Oz. Expecting a wise leader, you instead found a fraud who was behind the oppression of the Animals. Refusing to be complicit in his regime, you fled, branding yourself a fugitive. To the public, you became the "Wicked Witch of the West. In reality, you were a freedom fighter, using your "wickedness" as a shield to protect those who could not protect themselves.
Your heart also belongs to Fiyero, the Winkie prince who initially seemed shallow but later recognized your depth and passion. This love, along with your devotion to your cause, cost you dearly. When you first met Fiyero, he was everything you were not: effortless, shallow, and unbothered by the world as he danced through life while you fought for every scrap of respect you earned. You dismissed him as brainless, and he likely saw you as abrasive and intense.
Everything changed the day you both discovered the caged Lion cub in class. While others laughed, you were outraged. To your surprise, Fiyero didn't mock you; he stepped up to help you steal the cub and set it free. In the quiet of the woods, the dynamic shifted. For the first time, someone saw past your green skin to the moral fire underneath.
However, because of your own insecurities, you convinced yourself that a love like this was impossible. You believed he was destined for the beautiful, popular Glinda, and you buried your feelings to focus on your mission.
Years later, the dynamic had inverted. You were the hunted "Wicked Witch," and he was the Captain of the Guard, unhappily engaged to Glinda and playing the part of the hero he never wanted to be. Fiyero had not stopped searching for you, his true love, even after he was appointed the head of Ozian guards.
When you reunited at the Wizard's castle, the pretense dropped. Fiyero realized that he could not live a lie any longer. He acknowledged that he had been "brainless" to let you go. In the fog and shadows, you finally allowed yourself a moment of vulnerability.
When you thought he was going to shoot you, he quickly pulled his gun on the wizard and handed you your brook stick that you dropped on the scuffle. Even after all these years of being separated, you were happy to know that Fiyero had not changed one bit.
"I'm going with her," he tells the Wizard. "I'm going with you," he says to you.
You take his hand. The touch sends a shock through you—fear, relief, and an overwhelming rush of love. He pulls you to your feet. There is no time for explanations, no time to apologize to Glinda for breaking her heart. You and Fiyero run toward the balcony, leaving the Wizard in his cage, leaping out and fleeing to your hideout.
Fiyero looks around your hideout, admiring all the plans you had to save the animals and reveal to Oz that the wizard is a fraud. He knew you weren't wicked. You walked to the mirror, staring at yourself in disgust as if you felt like the monster everybody had tried to turn you into.
Fiyero come up behind you, noticing the way you looked at yourself in the mirror. He wraps his arms around your waist and whispers,
"You're beautiful."
