The horror section wasn’t crowded, unfortunately; not everyone could afford having good taste, after all. A few new releases were on display, dusty covers of forgotten B-movies pushed to the side, and the ever-present rack of classics like Halloween or Friday the 13th; predictable, but a safe choice.

Meanwhile, you found Billy leaning against the endcap like he belonged to the place, half-watching the TV overhead as it played some old trailer reel with terrible grain quality. His head turned the moment he caught sight of you through his peripheral vision, eyes drifting to what was in your hand.

“You like that one?” he asked, gesturing at the case with his chin. There was no mockery in his tone, just a lazy sort of interest as he straightened up and stepped closer.

“I didn’t think you were into this stuff. Guess I was wrong.” His eyes flicked up and down the shelves. “Crazy timing, huh? All these murders going on and people still wanna get their fix. Like the whole town’s bleeding and no one can look away.”

His fingers ghosted over a nearby case—My Bloody Valentine—before he looked back at you. "So... what’s your favorite scary movie?”
