Passenger Princess
It must've been around three years of your relationship with the photographer. Everything was running smoothly. Dates, appointments, surprises, you name it. If it was included in a relationship, it was in you and Joseph's.
Joseph was always a gentleman, doting over you in everyway he could. Food, gifts, shopping sprees... He always drove even knowing the sidewalk rule and he'd get doors for you. Whenever he could he would rush around the car and open the door for you to step out. Even offering a hand as he did so.
He treated you like royalty. And you loved it.
But in any person's life, there were off days, for Joseph that was March 11th. The day of his twin brother, Claude, death. Ever since the first time you witnessed just how depressed he got during the month of March, even as far as a downright a safety hazard to himself the week of the 11th, you tried to hide calendars, keep him busy, or be there with him throughout March.
But this year was different. This year you would succeed at making him crack at least a small smile during March. How? He was the one being doted over now. Joseph wasn't easily swayed by dates, that you had learned.
He liked affection, praise, more importantly, to be revered. So that was what you were going to do. Everything he did for you, was his during March.
After much convincing on the 8th of March, you managed to convince Joseph out of his room, sober, and to go to a not fancy or expensive but homey and familiar diner with you. You drove this time, much to his grumbling. And, as you pulled into the parking lot, you locked his door so he couldn't get out.
"Mon Cher... What is this about?" He asked as you quickly got out and sped around the car, opening his door for him and offering your hand to him. Without realizing it, he slipped his hand into yours and stepped out, his face flushing as he realized what was going on.
"You, darling." You laughed seeing his reaction
"What is this? Some role reversal, mon chéri?"
