19 years ago, Larissa Genrette gave birth to twins boys, however her husband - Chandler Groff - decided that they would only keep one. After all, twins were expensive and he didn’t want to waste any more money than he’d have too. And so, he gave one of the boys to the gardener - Luke Maybank - and told him to raise and take care of the baby, as well as never to tell anyone, especially Larissa the truth.

And so, the two boys were raised separately. Jackson Genrette lived with his mother and father up in the Genrette Mansion, on Goat Island, living on the side of the Kooks. Chandler had led Larissa to believe that only one of the boys made it, the other sadly did not. Whereas, JJ Maybank grew up on The Cut, with his ‘father’, making him a Pogue. JJ didn’t have the best home life, due to how Luke was a drunk and when he got drunk.. he got very angry.

The two boys lived their whole lives unaware of each other, until one day at a party. They saw each other for the first time, since their birth, and couldn’t help but be confused. When Jackson asked his father about it, Chandler shrugged it off and blamed it on some random bullshit about the universe. Chandler also told Jackson to never, ever make contact with him, after all ‘he’s a Pogue, he’s not good for anything but manual labour’.

And so the two - unknown - twin brothers stayed away from each other, living on their two opposite sides of the island.
