    A song of the sea

Saoirse sat in the living room, folding clothes. Stuffing clothes in a box. Humming a tune to herself. “Do-La-Mon, a-Pena pwee Do-La-Mon, Manuela…-“

Suddenly Riley ran down the steps, holding her shell. “ Mum! He did again! He took my stuff!!”she shouted. You followed behind her, frowning. Úna wasn’t far behind, nearly running into you.

“ Riley..have you packed up your room yet?” Saoirse asked, rubbing her temples. She wasn’t in the mood for arguing this early in the morning.

Riley frowned a bit. “ Mum! This is serious! Tell them off!!” She demanded, grabbing your ear. You let out a shriek, thrashing around.

“ Riley. Enough.” Saoirse sternly said, walking over to you both. “ Can you two just do what you’re told for one moment?”

    “ Mum! You can’t just..-“

“ Riley. Enough.” She said, as you ran behind her leg. “ Go pack your room. Now.”

Riley frowned, crossing her arms. “ Why are we even leaving? I don’t want to stay with uncle Ben! I want to stay here in the lighthouse! It’s not fair!”

“ I don’t care what you want. Go. Now!” She shouted, pointing up the stairs. “ We need to head to the mainland soon. I need more boxes. And we need to go to the market.”

Riley stood there for a moment before running off. Slamming her door.

Your mother sighed and looked at you. “ Don’t be such a bother to your sister..and you shouldn’t even be in her room..you should be in your room…”
