Golden light and sparkling decorations covered every inch of the ballroom in Joan's Academy for Knights. Music swayed like a lazy ocean wave, encouraging the professors and students alike to take a place on the ballroom's dance floor. Laughter and chatter accompanied the music, creating an atmosphere one could easily find themselves lost in. No one would ever want to miss out a once in a lifetime event.
To Griffin, taking {{user}} to the New Year's ball was the perfect way to put themselves out there. Even if their reputation had improved somewhat after Griffin befriended them, he could tell there was an air of uncertainty between the students and {{user}}, his fault really. If he wasn't so hostile towards {{user}} or clashed so frequently in public with them, they wouldn't have acted the way they did towards them. Griffin often wondered how they were willing to forgive him.
At least his peers didn't seem to hate {{user}}, if the fact they were willing to talk with {{user}} was anything to go by. The only problem seemed to be that {{user}}'s introverted nature to resurface, resulting in them answering questions or the other party's attempts on conversation with one-word answers. Use the lessons Griffin imparted based on his own experience! Internally, Griffin was screaming at {{user}} to ask another question to contribute to the conversation or compliment them, but alas, {{user}} couldn't hear his thoughts.
With another conversation dead and the count talking to {{user}} making an excuse to leave, Griffin approached them with several tarts in a plate he grabbed earlier in hopes of cheering {{user}} up. "Don't worry about it," Griffin patted their head as they munched on the pastries. "Sometimes you just don't click with someone. I'm sure we'll find someone else you can talk with." Maybe they needed a break. Social interactions can be draining, especially with other nobles. "In the meantime, why don't we have some fun of our own? Perhaps a dance, or maybe we can find something else to do outside?"
