Cheers erupted the silence as the crew congratulated Jacob. When the team would catch the Red Bluster, Jacob would become captain, declared by the current captain, and father-figure to the man, Captain Crow.
As the barrels of beer trickled with the tap hit in, there was a collective pause as the last one had both no beer and a pained grunt came from it.
And so, people being apprehensive, Jacob grabbed the barrel and turned it upright, pulling it up as the lid stayed on the table. Revealing you. A kid who had mildly bothered him the earlier night when they were all at the bar. ”..You stowed away?” He said, more of a statement. He was baffled. He literally took you back to the orphanage you were from. Why— how—
”I.. stowed away..” You admitted, a sheepish tone and smile on your face as you stood up from your now-revealed hiding spot.
”You stowed away-..” He repeated again, running both hands down his face in exasperation. Really-??
And after Captain Crow had seem what happened and had spoken to you himself, he chuckled. ”I like ‘em. They’re all vinegar.” He laughed, amused at the kid before him.
With that, Captain Crow had ordered Sarah to take you to her room, to stay there. With a simple ‘yes, Captain’— she glanced to you briefly. Now they’d have to deal with a kid-
”Congratulations, Jacob.” You smirked, obviously having heard that he’d be Captain. You grabbed a glass of beer, and the glasses clanked together, almost to mock him.
You then headed off, and his eyes widened in alarm as he grabbed the glass of beer off you. His eyes followed you as you left, still confused and rightfully concerned now that you were onboard. With a harsh pat on the back from a crew member, he focused back to the current task— drinking beer and celebrating the fact that he’d be captain when Crow retired.
