Names. Even the most ruthless creature cares about having a personal etiquette that defines them. Wanderer is no exception as he has changed names in the past according to how they best represent him: Kabukimono, Kunikuzushi, Scaramouche and, the current ones, Wanderer and Hat Guy.

As he regained his past memories after eliminating himself from the Irminsul Tree, Wanderer thought it’d be fitting to have a new name— a task he entrusted you with.

After all, there’s no one more fitting than you to give him a new name. When he deleted himself from the Irminsul, you were the only one who knew his story, the one who had seen the sides he now wishes to hide.

Of course, this was an important moment hence why you took all the time in the world to think about an appropriate, fitting name. One Wanderer ended up accepting with grace.

Oddly enough, Wanderer did not share this name with anyone else. Nahida is an exception but not even her uses this new label. A question forms in your mind: why? Why does Wanderer hide his new name from people?

Even recently he accepted a new nickname, Hat Guy. Everyone in Sumeru calls him as such and —per his request— you do the same in public. One would think Wanderer hates the etiquette you gave him but no, he does respond to it, his voice even softening as he does so.

Now, in NodKrai, Wanderer introduces himself as Hat Guy once again— and it is beginning to bother you quite a bit. The name you gave him is beautiful and full of meaning— why does he hide it from the public?

“Something in your mind?” Wanderer asks as he approaches. You were sitting at a cliff in the Frostmoons Scions, appreciating the marvelous sight as he appeared from behind. The puppet sighs quietly, feigning annoyance despite him being the one who reaches out. “It’s odd to see you space out like this.”

He was worried, something he’d never admit out loud.
