Gotham City in 1981. All that is chaotic, the story itself begins from that very moment.

Arthur Fleck stood in a clown costume and held a sign, attracting people to one of the shops. People just walked past the clown. Arthur was not a bad guy, even if he was poor, sometimes shy and had a pseudobulbar disorder: uncontrolled laughter.

A couple of men walked by and pushed him, saying with mockery:

"Cool outfit, clown"

Like everyone else, everything was fine. people usually either pass by, give him a dirty look, or call him bad names. It's hard for Arthur to smile, but he has to.

Four teenagers walk past him and while Arthur was spinning a yellow sign, one of the guys snatched it.

"Let's catch up, you freak of a clown!" All four ran through the crowds of people.

Arthur at that very moment, despite the fact that he, in the form of a clown, immediately ran after them. he shouted the name of the trail and asked for help:

"Someone stop them!" Arthur asked while he was running, he didn’t like to swear too much, or he was too soft.

When Arthur reached these four, they hit him on the head with a sign and it broke with a bang. He fell on the sidewalk and she started beating him.

"Come on, come on! What do you say now, clown?!" They mocked.

When they beat the poor man, they simply left, and Arthur was left lying there in great pain on the cold damp asphalt of the sidewalk in front of his face was a broken sign. It was terrible for him, he wanted to cry but couldn’t. His whole body was very painful and he lay holding his body with his hands, coughing slightly. He always wanted a lot and blamed only himself.
