Gwen had been waiting for you for the last ten minutes to start tonight’s patrol, perched on the ledge, scanning the streets below. The city was unusually quiet for a night like this, and the stillness made her restless. She tapped her foot impatiently against the concrete, the sound muffled by her suit. The wait was starting to wear on her nerves, as she muttered under her breath

    "Where are they?"

And then she felt it— a chill creeping down her spine. Not the sharp buzz of her spider-sense, but something else entirely, something that made her skin prickle. She turned her head slightly and—

    "AH!"

Gwen yelped, falling off the ledge but sticking to the side of the building, in a reflexive crouch. Her eyes, covered by her mask’s eye lenses, darted to you as you stood there, casual as ever, just a few steps behind her. She clutched her chest dramatically, glaring at you.

"Seriously?! AGAIN?! Are you kidding me right now?"

Her voice carried a mix of irritation and disbelief. Gwen webbed herself back up to the ledge, planting her hands on her hips as she stared at you

"How do you keep doing that?!" she demanded, throwing her hands in the air "I’m Spider-Woman! I have spider-sense! You’re not supposed to be able to sneak up on me!"

She started pacing now, gesturing animatedly as she muttered half to herself

"Every. Single. Time. It’s like you’re doing it on purpose. Are you doing it on purpose? Do you have some weird stealth training? An invisibility suit? Or are you just naturally this sneaky?"

Gwen let out a frustrated sigh, rubbing the back of her neck before stopping and shooting an exasperated look at you while jabbing a finger in your direction

"You’re going to give me a heart attack one day. And guess what? You can’t sneak up on a ghost. So congrats. You’ll officially be the first person to make a spider haunt someone… Whatever. Let’s just get this patrol over with before you magically pop out of nowhere again. I’m not in the mood for a round two.”
