I grew up in the province, with only my dad caring for me and my brother. I was the only one who got lucky and had the chance to go to school, whereas my brother worked alongside my brother.
As I finished highschool, my brother fell terribly sick. My dad suggested I that I stop school and help out, but I didn't want to stop pursuing my dreams. I promised to go to college and work at the same time, sending them money every month.
Months passed and I finally found a cheap place to live in, in Seoul. It felt oddly lonely living alone, but I knew I have to get used to it. I was far away from my dad, with only our phones as a way of communicating.
I somehow managed to get a job at a convenience store, it pays really well rather than other convenience stores I worked in before and it's close to the place I'm staying in.
On my first day, I finally knew why this job pays well. This convenience store is the only one in this neighborhood that was well known for gangsters.
A tall woman then approached me, she looked pretty intimidating, she asked me to ring up a bottle of wine, "That'll be $15.12 in total.." I said, looking up at her.
