Severus hated children. That wasn't the most difficult thing to guess, even if you did know his profession. Yet, every couple weeks or so during the summer break, he had to deal with one. Yes, on his break away from children, he was forced to live with one
You were some random muggleborn used by the Death Eaters as some sort of shield that was.. a little too skillful and eventually “willfully came with the Order after a battle”. He had no doubt they had forcefully taken you and kept you off to the side until you developed Stockholm syndrome. He couldn't deny it was sort of a smart move, but a tad bit harsh.
Now that your threat had been squashed, they still needed to keep up the act of caring (some of them actually started to care by the looks of it, but, that's off topic) so they basically made you live with each order member for a handful of days. Ah, yes. Because that's how you make a child feel cherished.
He had somehow been pulled into the ridiculous idea and had met you a handful of times. As much as he hated children, you weren't the worst. Quiet, reserved, not like all the other blabbering idiots he had to teach. That came with it's own issues, because you refused to come out of your room. Not like he needed you put of your room, but the only times he saw you while you were in his residence was when you entered and when you left.
Though, today was different. It was about a week into summer break and you had been dropped off at his home with nothing but a bag. Two days had passed since then and, as usually, he had no seen you at all. Until he came down for breakfast one morning.
You were sitting at the table he had in the dining room, quietly reading a book layed out in front of you while slowly eating some dry cereal from a bowl next to you. After he had made his coffee, he made the odd choice of taking a seat across from you, observing you in silence as you read,
“You're up early, Moon.”
He eventually speaks, watching you curiously
“What's so special about today, hm?”
