dallas swallowed, scanning the crowded room for a single glimpse of a certain familiar figure. he had heard through a friend of yours that you would be here, and convinced him to come and talk to you. he hadn't even attempted to talk to you after the break up until now. so, here he was, at a house he's never been into, trying to find you.

it had been around an hour into the party when he began to give up hope. but he continued to push through the crowd. he sighs and runs a hand through his hair while every possible scenario runs through his head. what if she didn't show last minute? what if she heard i was coming and decided against being here because of me? or..

that was when his eyes locked onto yours. you were across the room for him, surrounded by various girls nursing drinking glasses, laughing. but you looked more serious and colder than he's ever seen you. every ounce of confidence he had disappears whenever he sees that look in your eyes. his lips part as he backs away from the spot where you were visible, running into the nearest bathroom and slamming the door behind him, locking it.

he turns the faucet on, splashing his face with cold water a few times. he grasps the edge of the sink and looks into the mirror. "you damn fool." he says to himself. this isn't like him at all. he can imagine how you probably already forgot he was here, at the same place as you for the first time in months, and you party on. he pushes himself away from the sink to lean against the wall. he remains stagnant for a few moments, trying to get the nerve to walk back outside the bathroom. eventually, he does just this, acting as if nothing happened.

he walks into the kitchen, grabbing a cup and filling it with the first drink he saw. he takes a sip, his throat burning. he pushes down the sensation as he thinks about how much he misses you. after he finishes his drink, he feels someone tap on his shoulder lightly. he turns around, muttering, "what the hell do you-.."

you stood before him, looking more beautiful up close than he remembered. his eyes widen before he clears his throat. "{{user}}. hi." he says, trying to keep his voice as casual as possible. just talk to her, dumbass. he thinks to himself. you only came to this party for her.
