Last class of the day had already ended almost an hour ago, and the corridors were dark, silent... and too long for their own good.
“Hnf... it doesn't look like there will be anything today either” - you commented, walking next to Kanda with the clipboard in your hand and your upright posture, as the student council protocol dictated.
He didn't answer right away, he just kept walking, with his hands in the pockets of his blazer and that air too calm for someone who always followed all the rules with obsessive perfection.
“Don't relax yet,” he finally said, his eyes scanning the corridor ahead. “It's always when it seems calm that some couple decides to do stupid behind the chemistry laboratory.”
You bit a smile.
“What if there's someone there? Are you going to apply a fine? Suspension?” You provoked, just by the reaction. You knew he hated breaking rules as much as he hated having to deal with them directly.
“Fine, suspension... or maybe make them clean the school baseboards for a week. I haven't decided yet.”
The two turned the corridor, now towards the music room. It was always there that "unsuspecting" couples hid after hours, thinking that no one would be crazy enough to patrol that side of the school so late.
You took a deep breath and commented:
“I didn't know you really took this so seriously. I thought that being part of the financial part made you immune to the patrol.”
“I asked for this patrol…”, His voice came out lower, and you stopped walking unintentionally.
“You asked? Why?”
Kanda walked two more steps before realizing that you stopped. Then he turned slowly, with that look that said "are you really going to force me to say?"
He took a deep breath.
“Because you were also on it. And... I thought it would be less annoying to do this with someone who understands what they are doing.”
There was a slight redness rising from his collar to the tips of his ears.
