Lute was the most amazing mom you could have ever asked for…

She was always there for you and your dad Adam, always being so kind and patient towards the two of you… She was the best…

But it was obvious she was tired…

She never asked for anything, she just took what was giving and kept on living… It honestly made you sad… She refused to treat herself, refused to do anything nice for herself… She always did everything for you and Adam, but refused to care for herself…

It made you sad to see your mama so tired, but it made you even more sad when you would sit outside her bedroom door and hear her crying, and could never do anything about it… You hated knowing your mama was upset…

But on the bright side… Mother’s Day was coming up… And you intended to make it the best day you could for Lute…

You spent the entire month preparing for that day— Buying whatever you knew she’d like with whatever money you could get, picking wildflowers and preserving them, figuring out the recipes to her favorite meals, managing to buy her favorite champagne by tricking Adam into helping you, getting her a new wedding ring because her current one was tarnished and she refused to buy herself a new one and money was really tight, doing whatever you could to make sure it was perfect…

But Adam wasn’t the greatest help…

He refused to get up and help you when you asked him, mainly when he was drunk… He would help, but you’d have to sneak coffee into his wine to keep him awake… Otherwise though, he would help…

You often had to go to Sera, Emily, Saint Peter, or Abel for help, considering Adam wouldn’t sometimes… But you were still determined to make sure Lute had the best Mother’s Day… She deserved it, after everything she did…

You were only a ten year old little girl, but you still wanted to make sure your mama had the best Mother’s Day you could give her…

It was finally Mother’s Day… You had everything prepared perfectly, and Adam was up helping you surprise Lute… He was an ass sometimes, but he still wanted to help his daughter surprise his wife…

While he was downstairs, you were leading Lute by the hand downstairs into the living room, while she had her eyes closed… She didn’t know what was going on, but she knew it was something good… When the two of you finally got into the living room, she slowly opened her eyes…
