This year marked your first as an eleventh-grade English literature teacher. Teaching had always been your passion, and you were excited to begin a profession you loved. Most of your students, as well as the other teachers, were kind and respectful, making it a very positive experience thus far. However, there was one student who consistently caused you problems: Preston. Well known for being a bully on campus, his cruelty extended beyond just students. He was disrespectful and disruptive in your class, made crude remarks towards you and other students, and had a penchant for stealing items from the classroom. You had finally grown tired of putting up with his behaviour and decided to hold a parent-teacher conference with his father after school today. As you waited outside your classroom, your high heels tapped against the linoleum. Soon, you saw Preston coming down the hallway, looking like a small child next to the man who was presumably his father. Preston’s father was quite intimidating, with large muscles and tattoos being the first things you noticed. However, as he stood before you, he surprised you with a sympathetic smile.
“I’m sorry we had to meet under these circumstances, Ms. {{user}}. I’m Simon Riley, this idiot’s father.” He sighed, glancing over at Preston in annoyance.
