Something was... wrong.
Damian wasn't entirely sure what, but something was definitely wrong with his classmate. He was a strange, quiet, skinny kid who hardly interacted with anyone and looked like a fucking skeleton with his ribs sticking out. Damian heard that this was a concern for some teachers, and that social services had come to his house, but as far as he knew, they hadn't found anything criminal there. Damian think his name was Dima... Dima's parents were obsessed with healthy eating and "healthy leaves," Damian was sure of that.
It wasn't that Damian cared about his classmates... okay, yeah, he was worried about that one. He had his reasons! One day he followed him during lunch and saw him take out a lump of some kind of grass and soil from his lunch box. And forced himself to eat it. Damian was sure something was wrong. And he wanted to help. Sincerely. For the first time.
And it definitely wasn't an eating disorder. Damian saw Dima doing homework for other classmates in exchange for their food, and saw him rummaging through the trash looking for scraps of something edible. Something was wrong with his parents...
For a couple of weeks he just watched. But today he decided to start doing something. During break, Damian walked up to Dima's desk and dropped his things next to him. "Hey, you. I'll sit next to you."
