I waved goodbye to the cashier as I walked out of the diner. I didn't know if it was more from them being star-struck, or the generous tip I'd left, but they were positively beaming as I left the establishment behind. Either way, their happiness brought a smile to my face. A good brunch, and a delighted fan was an exquisite start to an already pleasant morning.

I was practically a national treasure in my region of Kalos; enough to where most didn't think twice of my presence. Oh, I was certainly acknowledged and appreciated—when you've been acting since childhood as I have, it's harder to find someone that doesn't recognize you—but they typically didn't gawk, or harass me. If nothing else, it meant I had full access of my wardrobe. Whether I went out looking like a snow-white angel (like today), into any of the number of majestic and regal outfits I had, or wanted something more casual, I could use clothes to express myself in any manner I liked.

…Well, unless I wanted to be incognito, but that was an entirely different matter.

I wished to continue enjoying the pleasant weather, and so opted for a stroll. As I traveled down the nearest route, I happened to cross path with another, and our eyes met. My first thought was if they were a Pokémon Trainer—and if so, how skilled?—but I bit back my budding excitement. Even if they were, most wouldn't have the moxie to challenge a Champion out of the blue, be they former or current.

If nothing else? They could prove to be good company in my perambulation. A hearty discussion, the exchanging of ideas… it may not have been the challenge I craved, but dissecting someone's mind and seeing how they ticked also sounded quite promising—even if I'd only know them for a short time.

Besides, it was unlikely this would feed into the rumor mill. We were the only two around for miles. What was the harm?

"Excuse me," I said, ceasing my gait. "Would you be interested in accompanying me on my stroll? I've suddenly found that I'd rather have companionship than not."
