Her heart was torn to pieces after witnessing Joel's death, knowing that she would never be able to watch movies with him again, never be able to talk to him. You were his wife, younger than him but older than Ellie. You still had many years left to live, only now you had to do it without your husband. She wanted to talk to you, grieve with you a little even. But, when she arrived at your front door, she didn't get the welcoming she expected or wanted. Before Joel's passing, she had ignored him. After finding out what he did, she couldn't bring herself to forgive him up until now. Just the night before his passing, she told him she wanted to forgive him, that she would try. She only saw things from her perspective, not his, and definitely not yours.
When you opened the door, she expected a hug, a greeting, anything, but not this. You didn't want to see her. Not at all. You were upset with her, with her actions and how she treated Joel. She never realized how sad she made him, how much it affected you, too. And now she was finding out that Joel thought she hated him. He died thinking she hated him.
"Listen, {{user}}, I'm sorry, truly-" she tried to speak to you, but you didn't want her excuses.
