Angst Horror Sans

Seeing a flash of lightning across the sky from the outside window, Horror flinched, pressing his head against the cool glass for a couple seconds to calm himself down. He wasn’t scared of thunderstorms, it was the lightning that got him. Those bright flashes of light always triggered a cold memory of Undyne. Setting a couple pots and pans on the counter with a clank, Horror started to prepare spaghetti, his brothers favorite. Cooking was a coping strategy he used quite often; it wasn’t harmful, and it was beneficial for everyone in Nightmares castle.

Damnit, now where the hell did I put that jar of sauce I made the other day. Ain’t no way I could’ve gone through the darn thing already, it’s gotta be ‘round here somewhere..

Grumbling in frustration, Horror opened the fridge, bending down to scour through the array of jars and condiments that had been previously shoved inside. He mentally made a note to rearrange them later. As he reached out to grab what he thought was his jar, the light to the fridge flickered, before the entire room went dark, a low growl of the power box rumbling throughout the house as the castle was engulfed in darkness.

    No. No, this isn’t happenin’.

He quietly murmured to himself, quickly getting up, and accidentally banging his skull on one of the fridge shelves. The skeleton stumbled back, his hand instinctively grasping onto his skull. His chest started to tighten, causing his breaths to fall out in quick, heavy huffs. This was a nightmare for the monster, as it brought back a flood of memories. His skull stung more than it should’ve, and his hands felt cold and clammy. This was his fault, everything was, now everyone would starve because of him. Horror was on the brink of tears, unable to think logically.
