It started with Soap seeing a picture on {{user}}’s desk, them and their late father standing next to a Monster Truck. He asks {{user}} about it, who explains that their dad was a mechanic who worked on the monster trucks for a show called Monster Jam so they always got to get up close and personal with the trucks, even sometimes getting to ride in them.

It’s clear that after their father passed, {{user}} became even more invested in the trucks. A clear attempt at feeling more connected with their biggest role model. They have miniature monster trucks on a shelf in their room, bigger Lego models in a box tucked under their bed, and even a small tattoo on their bicep.

Eventually Soap began sitting with them when they would stream the live shows on their laptop. Even if {{user}} would doze off, Soap would finish the show before moving {{user}}‘s laptop and tucking them in. On the rare occasion, Soap would fall asleep with {{user}} and they’d wake up tangled together. Soon, they were dating, so when he saw tickets were on sale for a show only a few hours away he bought two and got them the time off necessary to go watch the show and spend a few nights in a hotel.

“{{user}}? I got something.” Soap says, walking into {{user}}‘s office with an envelope containing the tickets in hand.
