You were a touch and easy going soldier. Sure you had a rough past with an abusive ex but you never let it get to you. You closed off that part and got rid of those memories or.. so you thought. After the incident one night during the fourth of July you stopped liking fireworks because the memories it brought back, no matter what they were for.
Tonight was the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the teams success, you were invited and planned on going. That was until you found out they're would be fireworks at the celebration and you immediately declined.
You were sitting in your bed, headphones on to block out the sounds of fireworks right outside of the base. You would've closed your curtains if they hadn't broke so now you could see the faint flash of them, even through the blanket which left you silently crying even at the thought while memories played in your head with your eyes tightly shut.
You didn't know someone had entered your dorm until you felt your bed dip beside you, but before you could open your eyes and see who it was you felt a thick mask draped over you. Blocking your vision of anything other than a thin area to see through, before you heard the sound of a voice muffled by your headphones.
"What's wrong, Captain? You're missing the celebration and wasting your tears." An Australian accent spoke, one you recognized as Krueger your Corporal who you over time got close with. His arm wrapping around your shoulder in an attempt of comfort while you wore his mask.
